A forward deployed engineer works directly with a customer, often in the customer's tools and on their data, to turn a product or a model into a working production system. The role is widely associated with Palantir and is now common among AI labs and enterprise software companies.
FDEs scope ambiguous problems, connect to legacy systems, write production code and feed field learnings back to the product or delivery team.
