Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)

A technique that gives a language model relevant documents or data at query time so answers are grounded in a customer's own information.

RAG systems combine a search or vector index with a language model. They are a common first production deployment for FDE teams because they connect to a customer's existing documents and systems.
